Sun Documentation

Sun have written a truly staggering quantity of documentation for Solaris. A single copy for Solaris 8 takes up several feet of shelf-space. If you don't want half a tree occupying your office you have three good alternatives:

• ISD has hard/paper copies of the documentation which may be consulted --- ask at the ISD Helpdesk.
  
  
• The documentation is available to be browsed "online", at Sun's Documentation Web Site.
  
  
• If you chose to install the documentation along with the O/S, it will be available to be browsed locally: either point you favourite web browser to

  http://<your-machine>:8888/

  or, assuming you are using the Common Desktop Environment, CDE, click on the up-arrow above the "Help" icon (books with large question mark) on the main Control Panel and choose an option from the resulting menu, AnswerBook2 being the reference.
